Like every Casement project, this home began with four quiet hours spent watching an ordinary morning.
The Casement Morning Visit
The brief
Tom and Anna Brink had around four thousand books in boxes and a farmhouse with one large, empty room. They asked for a library that would feel like it had always been there.
What the morning showed us
The children did their homework on the stairs, because that was the only place to sit near the books piled in the hallway.
What we made
A black walnut library wall with a rolling ladder
A reading nook and window seat for the children
Two oak desks built into the side alcoves
Adjustable shelving sized for their real collection
Every piece was made in our workshop and installed in two days.
