Like every Casement project, this home began with four quiet hours spent watching an ordinary morning.
The Casement Morning Visit
The brief
Priya and Sam Deshmukh bought a tall, dark Victorian with beautiful bones and a kitchen that fought them every morning. They wanted light, storage and a house that could hold three growing children without losing its character.
What the morning showed us
Everyone ate breakfast standing at the bay window, because that was where the sun came in. The dining table sat unused in a dark room next door.
What we made
A walnut window seat with deep drawers in the kitchen bay
A reworked kitchen with the island turned toward the light
Restored plaster cornices and original pocket doors
A gallery wall around a reupholstered heirloom sofa
Three children’s rooms with built-in desks
The house was phased over six months, so the family never had to move out.
